Human Characters

Rainworld is a dystopia, an intentionally constructed capitalist hellscape. And in it, the usual fascist ideas about who's real, who counts, abound. As a human character, you are the recipient of considerable social privilege.

Baseline

Baseline humans are the basic genetic stock that arose on Earth and conquered the galaxy. Add these features:

  • +2 Click
  • +1 CON
  • +1 EDU
  • Schooling: 10 extra character creation points to spend on language-related Quirks, Info Quirks, EDU-linked skills and/or their (sub)specialties
Mutt

Mutts are mutated — whether by exposure to environmental toxins, smart highs, or combat pharmaceuticals, de novo or inherited. Hardy, vigorous, still human enough to be part of society, but obviously weird enough to be stigmatised. Add these features:

  • +1 Click
  • +1 TUF
  • +1 CON
  • Resilience: in the downtime between RFWs, the character naturally heals half of the injury in their Body track
  • Persistence: when combat ends, the character heals half of the stun in their Body track
Perfect

Perfects are the cream of humanity, deliberately crafted to exquisite extremes. Genetic, memetic and subtle cybernetic enhancement have created a new aristocracy of hyperfunctional individuals. Add these features:

  • +1 Click
  • +1 PPL
  • +1 EDU
  • Schooling: 10 extra character creation points to spend on language-related Quirks, Info Quirks, EDU-linked skills and/or their (sub)specialties
  • Vox Legis: a set of frequencies and modulations that Perfects can add to their voice at will. It has no effect on nonhumans or other Perfects. Perfects and Homunculoids can directly perceive the Vox Legis; unaugmented humans cannot. The Vox Legis grants a +2 bonus to the Perfect when used to give any suggestion or order to an unaugmented human. Homunculoids are deliberately engineered to respond to it; they must make an Endurance check with a -5 penalty to disobey the Vox Legis
