Quiescence a superhero SF novel

Her name's Crucible: poster child and pioneer, one of the most famous crimefighters to ever wear a costume. She's a hero, and I haven't spoken to her since I quit the team and fled.

Life's not fair. A career-ending giant robot injury is the least of it — you still have to deal with your friends afterwards, and that's the squirmiest can of worms ever. It's not socially acceptable to handle them via the medium of punching, for a start.
