Whaddup, It's Your Girl, Amateur Polymath

Cohost writing prompt: @Making-up-Mech-Pilots — Mech Pilot who is not a "creator" they are an "amateur polymath."

"Hey folks, whaddup, it's ya girl Jenelle, back with a really exciting one for you this week! Yes, this week only, we're doing a collab with my old pal Vanish, who some of you undoubtedly know from her own VidPipe channel. Say hi, Vanish!"

"Hiiiii! It's great to be lending a hand for this video, we're gonna be checking out the performance of the new All-Terrain Grip Toe Assembly for mid-class walkers, we'll be going head-to-head for a real-world performance assessment, Jenelle's newly ATGT-equipped mech against mine with the conventional footgear, across the ice flows of the frozen moon of Little Sicily! This is gonna be a good one, Jenelle's such a fun creator to work with — ah, fuck, Jen, have you cut the cameras again."

Jenelle turns, as much as possible with both of them squished into the pilot seat of her mech to record a cute intro segment. "We don't use the C-word," she says solemnly.

Vanish looks at her, and massages the bridge of her nose. "Right," she sighs.

"You call people creators one day, and the next it's content, and then everyone's a content creator," Jenelle says. "Am I a corporation? Do I look like a corporation?"

"No, Jen, you don't look like a corporation."

"I know you feel ridiculous calling me an amateur polymath out loud. I know. It's an affectation. But the words we choose matter."

"Sorry," Vanish mutters, picking at her nail, and Jenelle sighs, leans into her, and puts her head on her shoulder.

"Jen," Vanish says, and awkwardly, tentatively pats her shoulder.

"I just want this one to be perfect," Jenelle says softly, against her neck. "Not for them. Just because it's you."

Vanish rests her head on Jenelle's, a lump in her throat. "You wanna try another take?"

"I wanna get off this frozen rock and get dinner," Jenelle says. "Do you — what do you say we get this segment in the bag, and then. Italian?"

"Yeah," Vanish somehow manages, despite being filled with butterflies. "Yeah, that sounds good."
